Testament - The Legacy 1987 Review

Greetings, metalheads! This countdown just keeps on giving, so let's keep things fast and heavy, because thrashing its way in is the thrashy, thrashtastic, thrashtastical Testament, with their 1987 debut album, The Legacy.

The Legacy is a popular album that goes toe-to-toe with thrash metal's biggest and best debuts during the genre's most celebrated era. The album is thrummed with razor sharp musicality, menacing riffs, and a youthful bluster, making it one of the most sought-after thrash metal albums of the '80s. The enduring anthem "Over The Wall", coupled with the unhinged assaults of "C.O.T.L.O.D." and "First Strike Is Deadly", cemented the band's position as one of the leading thrash metal outfits outside the big four.

The Legacy received favourable reviews by fans and critics, coming 8th on Ranker's list of 'Best Thrash Metal Albums', and 12th on Loudwire's list of 'Greatest Thrash Metal Albums of All Time'. Best Ever Albums gave the album a very respectable score of 75/100, and generally speaking, The Legacy is considered to be one of the best and well known thrash metal albums ever made.

So, that's another heavy classic hitting our list on this thrashy Thursday. Are you happy with its inclusion, and where do you rank The Legacy among Testament's other albums? You know what to do...

Terry will be closing out the week tomorrow with two absolute banging classics, so, be sure to tune in for that.
